Slide Transitions

I'm having difficulty with the advance slide automatically after xx. I have
it set to background music. It was working for awhile but it seems when I did
"package for CD" it won't automatically transition anymore. I have the
"advance slides using timings, if present" checked. When I "view show" it
runs but the slides won't change at the preset times. I'm using Office 2003
on Windows XP

I'm not having a problem with the sound it's the slides, they won't
transition at the time they are supposed to. Ex the 1st is supposed to change
after 10 seconds and the second 12 seconds. The first one never changes. It
used to when I first created it but after I "packaged it" it won't work now.

Double check the Custom Animation settings for the sound file. It sounds like
the sound is set to stop after the current slide. You want to set it to stop
after XX slides.

I don't think you understand. I am NOT having a problem with the sound file.
That is set to stop playing after 999 slides. The problem is the slides are
set to transition after a certain amount of seconds W/O a mouse click. They
are not doing that anymore.

It may be that you have the transition and or the animation set to
activate AFTER the music is finished. Check the two sections and see
if you can make it transition "with previous" instead of "after
previous". It may be waiting for the music to finish. Just a
thought.
Hope it works.

[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329820]

Hello,

You might be running into a known issue with the "Continue slide show"
setting which not accessible through the task pane. The workaround is to
apply the "Continue slide show" setting to the inserted "background" sound
object using the legacy Custom Animation dialog (not the Custom Animation
task pane).

To get to the Custom Animation dialog you must first disable the new
animation features in PowerPoint 2002 and 2003:

1) Tools -> Options
2) Switch to "Edit" tab
3) Check the "New animation effects" under the "Disable new features" group
and
4) Click OK

To apply the "Continue slide show" setting, repeat the following for each
sound object that you want to behave this way:

1) Select sound object
2) Slide Show -> Custom Animation
3) Switch to "Multimedia setting" tabl of the dialog,
4) Check the "Continue slide show" option and
5) Click OK

Once you are done, you can re-enable the advance animation features:

1) Tools -> Options
2) Switch to "Edit" tab
3) UN-Check the "New animation effects" under the "Disable new features"
group and
4) Click OK

I have the opposite problem. I have a 2:01 sound clip that I want to run for
only 22 seconds. I have the Slide transition set for that and the sound clip
set to stop after current slide. However, the transition doesn't take effect
until the sound clip runs in it's entirety.

Any thoughts?

Edit your file and delete all but the 22 seconds that you want. Download either
Audacity or GoldWave and install it.
Open your WAV in the software and highlight the area of the sound stream you
DON'T want. Press the delete key and save the file to a new name. Done!

John, I'm having this problem in 2007. How do I solve the problem in this
version? Please note that I'm not overly familiar with 2007 interface, so
please be specific with steps!
