Sorry John,
There is no way to create a tight sync with audio from within PowerPoint.
In some cases, the sync can end up being off by *several* measures. There
are other products on the market (like Adobe Premiere) that will do this,
but they are rather expensive ( ~700 USD) and are limited to only doing a
video-with-audio type of presentation. They are not really slide shows, but
more like movies. Don't get me wrong, I hear they do an excellent job, but
I simply can't afford software like this.
You will also need to understand that even if you get your presentation
running perfect on your machine, it may not run perfect the next time, and
will almost definitely not run perfectly on any other machine.

you would like to see included in the next version of PowerPoint. That link
