The following is what I have figured out via trial and error...
The Slide Sorter View in 2007 seems to be a multiple column version of the
slide miniature pane of normal view. If you set the slide sorter to 100% and
then go to the normal view and set the slide miniature column as wide as it
goes, you will see that the two sizes seem to be pretty close to the same.
It always seems to be about 1/5 (?) of the actual size of the slide. (John's
hint about adjusting the page size proportionally does work, but you have to
be tricky to do it in 2007. Go to the Design tab, click the Page Setup
button, and change from the ratio version of your slide size to a custom
size. Then you can adjust the actual size of the slide based on the same
ratio as you had been using.)
The thing that led me to this realization is that it doesn't matter what my
screen size is, the largest size of the slide miniature is about the same.
Does that help? I don't know. But at least now you know you aren't the only
one beating your head against this wall.
