Slide Show Viewer in Windows XP Folders does not work

If I try to use the Windows XP Picture Task - "View as Slide Show" - this
feature does not work anymore

any ideas why?

Also when I double click a jpeg - the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer does
not work

Again any idea?

You might want to try the following:
Go to Start -> Run and enter cmd.exe in the Open box. Click OK.
Enter the following at the command prompt

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

Hit the enter key.

Go back to a folder that contains image files and see if the
Slide Show and Picture and Fax Viewer are now available.
