Slide show problem

I am running Powerpoint 2002. When I open a powerpoint file, I am able to
view the slides, notes, outline, etc. However, when I click to "view
slideshow", the slideshow will not run. The only thing that happens is the
window tries to open (the powerpoint icon and file name pops up on my the
bottom of my screen). When I click on that, nothing happens and the
slideshow does not start. When I close the first powerpoint window, both
close.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong? How do I correct this? reload
powerpoint?

One other thing that might be related, sometimes when I close an office
program (excel/word), it takes sometimes as much as 30 seconds for the file
to close. Does anyone else have this problem?

Go to Slide Show > Set Up Show and set Multiple monitors to display the
slide show on the Primary Monitor, not the Secondary Monitor. That should
fix it.

Explanation, if you don't have two monitors connected, the slide show is
running and displaying on the non-existant monitor. Therefore you can't see
it.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

f you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint to recognize when this happening (if possible) and either do the
right thing or make it easier for the customer to understand and resolve
the problem, don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please)
to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
