Slide Show in XP Pro

I have XP Home on my home computer and it works fine.
I have XP Pro on a laptop and, while theh help file
defines the procedure for slide shows as the same as on
my home computer, the Pictures Tasks menu does not appear
with XP Pro on the laptop.

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

John - I tried your suggestion, as since the last upgrade I have also lost
the slide show ability and Picture Tasks does not appear on my menu - I have
XP Home. However - though I got succeeded in the dialog box not success in
'my pictures.

Help someone! Thanks.

Something has happened between 21/8 and 27/8. I can't recall ever using
Picture Tasks before, but the photos I downloaded on 21/8 I viewed as a
slide show with the buttons below the photos and the ones I loaded on 27/8
the buttons are no more ... thus my initial venture into the 'Help and
Support Center' where they mention Picture Tasks ... and though I am not the
most manually dextrous user I do not know what I could have done.

To see the buttons under the picture, the window must be set to full screen.
Just double click on the top blue bar of the window and the buttons should
now appear below the picture.
