the PDF file I always get a dialogue window stating ...
"some files can contain viruses or other harmful ........ " and much more, I
have to select OK each time to make good the link ..

can anyone tell me how to disable this dialogue from coming up each time I
select a link ...

many thanks ... Gary

Hello John,

thanks for trying to help me out .... I tried all I could and the painful
message remains.. I did the Regedit switching to 1, I down loaded and tried
the little .exe files for doing this automatically , I have restarted the Pc
so many times and now I feel as if I have nothing more to do but put up with
the message along with the audience .....

I know such a behavior from my own experience in PowerPoint XP. First
make sure that you have the latest service packs and patches for your
Office version installed.

If that doesn't help, check your Windows registry for a DWORD key named
"ForceShellExecute" in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\Internet].
(It doesn't matter what Office version you have installed, just use the
key under "Office\9.0\" as this option was introduced in Office 2000.)

If the key is not present, create it. Then set its value to 1.
Close all Office applications, restart PowerPoint and test again.

If still the problem exist, remove the key (or set it back to its
previous value) as it might have other undesirable effects on your system.
