Hello.
I am having major problems with PowerPoint dropping out of Slide Show mode
by itself during presentations. I've been using, and training people, in the
use of PowerPoint for nearly 12 years and have never seen this problem
before. Can anyone help?

Regards,
Peter.

Hi Peter

I have heard of this happening due to 'bad' keyboards & mice, particularly
wireless ones. Might this be the issue? If not could you give us a bit more
detail like what version you are running and if you are using presenter view
or an extended desktop.

I guess anything is possible, although given that my laptop is a brand new
Toshiba business machine, it us unlikely to be the keyboard. I don't use a
wireless mouse - I use a touchpad only. The version is PowerPoint 2007 and
usually run the normal slide show view - connected to a data projector...
although I have found it still drops out even when not connected to a data
projector.

Regards,
Peter.

Hmmmm. Has it started since you got the new laptop? It may be a v sensitive
touchpad? I'm afraid I'm not that experienced with 2007 (new computer with it
installed arrived yesterday yipee!) but I haven't heard of it being an issue
with 2007. If the problem started when you got your new laptop the touchpad
options would be the first thing to investigate...

Thanx Lucy.

Unfortunately, no. It was happening with my older laptop as well. I don't
think its a 2007 problem.

Thanx for your help though.

Peter

Maybe a long shot but I'm sure I've heard of voice recognition software
causing strange events in powerpoint.

You'll have to pardon the splashing while we flail around a bit here ... this problem
seems to be coming up fairly often of late, but it's not something that used to happen
often.

The Tosh should have a way (in Toshiba control panel, probably?) to disable the
touchpad. Just to take it out of the equation, try disabling it and using an external
mouse for a few presentations. See if that has any effect.
