Hi there,

I still do not have my slide show.

I've installed my new office Pro XP and I've create a new
PPT.

I am unable to view the presentation as a slide show.
The short cut button in the lower left corner of the
screen doesn't work the F5 feature doesn't work nor does
the slide show, view slide show pull down menu.

I've visited support.microsoft.com and looked for support
answer to a similar problem.

Found these

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 322101 291896

However, I do not have two monitors, just one, and also,
I cannot access the set up show option.

I don't understand, I still have my office 2000 on my lap
top and this feature works well in the 2000 version.

Is this a glitch in the 2002?

I look forward for a reply,

Valerie.

Two questions.

Is it only happening with a specific presentation?

Do you receive any sort of error message at all?

No I do not receive any error messages. Its greyed out.

And it happens with all presentations.

In the slide show menu , "view slide show" and "Set up
show" are greyed out.

Thanks

Bizarre. You do have a monitor, don't you? :-)

These will be a bit off the wall, but you never know...

Try changing hardware acceleration.

Also try booting in Safe Mode. Will the PPT file run then?

Ooooh, also try right-clicking your desktop, choose properties, and see
if you have extended your desktop or anything like that. Those settings
will probably be on the Settings tab under the Advanced button.

Thank you for all the inputs.

Slide show is working in windows safe mode.

Any more suggestions?

Ahhh, well, we're getting *somewhere* at least! Working in Safe Mode but
not in "regular" mode (whatever that's really called!) is often a sign
of a need to update your video drivers.

I'd say it's probably worth a shot, anyway.
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00467.htm has information under "the
long fix" which may help there.

Did you try right-clicking your desktop to see if you have any
primary/secondary monitor or extended desktop settings selected? There's
also info on that in the link above. If there's anything like that going
on in your display settings, turn them off and see if that fixes things
in PPT.

Hi Valerie.

When you try to start the slide show, do you get a new "tab" on the task
bar?
It might be that your presentation is set up for multiple monitors, your PC
supports them, but there's none hooked up. PPT is trying to display the
show on an "air-tv" so to speak.

Try this:

Choose Slide Show, Set Up Show.
If the "Multiple Monitors" area is active, make sure that Primary Monitor is
selected for "Display slide show on."

I thought of that too, but later she also says that Slide Show > View Slide
Show and Slide Show > Set Up Show are grayed out.

In 2k, Set Up Show will be grayed out if a slide show's running (though not
View Slide Show, which just switches you back to Slide Show view, at least
in single monitor mode).

Dunno offhand about XP

Thank you soooooooooooooo much. It works now.

U'r a gem.

I updated my video drivers and also followed the method of
right-clicking and unchecking the extended desktop
settings.

Thanks again for all the help.
