slide scans too dark

I scanned some slides. Most of the scans are too dark, and trying to
adjust the brightness/contrast afterwards didn't help, since there
isn't much one can do with a near pitch black picture.

Here is a sample pic:

but many are darker. A brand new Atari !!

Anyone know which settings I want to "open the pupil"?

Start with your scanner's histogram ...
 
Tim923, the links to your home page work but I can't get to your images.

Did you take them down already, or are the URLs in your messages incorrect?
