Slide numbering

Is there a way to freeze slide numbering so I could have a
hidden slide not affect the sequence numbering in the
presentation?

To clarify - Say my hidden slide is 12 but my presentation
jumps from 11 to 13. Id rather it go from 11 to 12.

If not is there a way to have auto numbering span slides
and pause it?

Thanks

Hidden slides get numbered in the sequence they appear. Unfortunately you
can't override that. What you can do is place the hidden slides at the end
of the presentation and not include them when you print.

No. The slide number is it's sequence in the presentation. The start
number can be modified, but not which slides are included. You can however,
create a custom show that skips these hidden slides. Perhaps this would do
what you need.

Is there a question behind the question? For instance, why do you need to
have these hidden slide's numbers not included in the sequencing?

Yep there is. Thanks for asking. I want to make use of
the notes page function in PowerPoint XP. My problem is
that, at times, I need to span more than one page of notes
(we need PPT as a storyboard tool). If I can hide a slide
and skip it in sequencing then I have my extra page.

I thought about manually adding slide number in but if I
accidentally miss a number then the storyboards snowball
problems down the road.

Interesting use. Don't have much experience with using Powerpoint in this
way, but I'll toss off a couple of ideas.

1) Use a hyperlink to the MS Word file that contains the full script.
Insert small object with a link to the bookmark in the Word document.
Clicking on this will bring up the part in the script that applies to this
slide.

2) Export presentation to Word, then use the table tools there to print
multiple pages of script per slide.

3) Insert the hidden slides, but place a small textbox on the bottom corner
that tells you the number of the next active slide #

4) Create a custom show that only includes the active slides. Use this for
running the presentation, but use the base program for anything requiring
the script.

Don't know if any of these will be of any use. Perhaps one of the other
posters has some better ideas.

Please post back and let us know how the project is progressing.
