Slide Master and file size

I have been getting frequent requests to create PP
templates for clients. I have 2 basic problems.

1. The file size is very large. I put the image on the
master template to save space but the resulting .ppt file
iss much larger than the sum of the image files. Any
suggestions on making them smaller?

2. I have some templates from others that the slide
master has an image but it cannot be copied from the
slide master. How did they do that? I would like to
make mine that way.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe the image you are using is larger than you need. See:

Re: the image - - go to View > Master > Slide Master > Format > Background >
click on the color box > Fill Effects > Picture and Select Picture.
