Short answer is toggle a key or two, and if that doesn't work then reboot.
You can start setting the options in start>Control Panel>> Power Options,
and setting that up to your liking. The trouble is, that sometimes the BIOS
power saving does not synchronise with Windows, so check your motherboard
manual to see what power saving options are available there and ensure they
match the settings entered in Windows.
Even then , you may have problems - power saving just seems to be one of
those bugs that sometimes work as advertised, but other times can be very
frustrating to resolve.
Ensuring that your keyboard drivers are not set to a generic setting in
Control Panel also might help - the correct driver is recommended for the
model you have.
