I had 2 HDs:
20 GB WD as master
120 GB Seagate as slave
The master had Windows XP pro with service pack 1.
The slave had a ntfs partition and was used mainly for storage.
My master HD died about a month ago and I just had it replaced by a brand
new 40 GB WD and I have just finished installing Windows XP and service pack
1.
The problem is that although the 120 GB hd is showing on the hardware list
it won't show on windows explorer or populate the properties.
Is there something I am missing here?

Right click on My Computer and select Manage. Then choose Disk Management. How
many hard drives are showing? Specifically look for Disk 1 (your new 40GB WD
HDD should be Disk 0). If it does show, right click on it to see if it needs to
be initialized for the new XP installation. It shouldn't, but it won't hurt to
check. That could happen, however, if you have a large unpartitioned area on
the disk.
