Slave Hard Disk doesn't appear in My Computer window

I have tow hard disks installed on my win2000 system with one IDE Cable ,
the Slave HardDisk appears in my Device Manager under disk drives tab but it
does not in My Computer.
Can anyone tell me what exactly the problem is ?

Open Disk management and partiton and format it for use.

I tried that but I can't see the hard disk it self there

The error message in Device Manager should give you a clue as to where
the problem is.
