slave drive question

just installed win XP on new hd ...have win 98 and office
on old HD set as slave..when i go to that HD and try to
open word (icon ) .exe file or excel Win xp say can't
open program ?? how do i fix this ..? i don't have
original disks as it came with pc.

Do you have the "Restore" CD for the machine? If not, you need to properly
"move" the program, *much* more difficult than it may seem. Windows
absolutely sucks for this stuff. Macs and Linux are easy.

Both Symantec and PowerQuest used to make utilities for this, but neither
seems to offer them any more.

Or you can manually move it by very laboriously going thru the registry and
hand-editing all the entries. Takes ages and is tricky, but it can be done!
Make lots of coffee and backups. You'll need it/them.
