Can someone advise how to stop the installation of captioned program to
avoid bringing in virus, adware, spyware, etc to whole LAN.

I'm going to assume that the three posts you have made are all about the
same subject. Let's try and keep everything in one thread, OK?

You need to provide a whole lot more information about your computers,
the operating systems - versions and service pack levels - and your
network (workgroup? domain?) before anyone can give you focused help.

Thanks for your advice. Your assumption is correct that I did send the post
three times as my email client showed failure to send successfully for
whatever reasons. No body will repeat one thing several times instead of
one. Everybody is looking for the easiest way to complete the task!

I always use the search feature before raise a question as per above
reasons - quicker. However, not everybody knows the key word to search
effectively. As a senior one, they might be easier to identify the key word
but not everyone.

You are familiar with the subject. Of course you might be thinking that the
sender is so stupid not to provide the essential information in order to get
the right answer quicker. Did you think that the sender is unfamiliar with
the subject and never thought of the essential information when they raise
the question?

Back to the subject. All the computers are running on Windows XP Pro SP2 in
a domain LAN. The internet cable passes thru a firewall but it seems those
IM software has no barrier from the firewall.

What is the server operating system and service pack level? What
firewall are you using?
