Skype hanging Vista

Running Skype 4.0 and at times when I shut it down it causes Vista to
freeze. Today starting it up while AVG was scanning it froze the system. No
errors, just everything frozen.

Sounds like a job for Skype Support.

Woody, I've had some Vista Freezes that appeared to be IE related. You
could try removing the Skype plugin thing if it's installed but also
remember this could simply be related to a damaged file that just
happens to be part of Skype. Highlight the disk drive, hit options and
tools and with both boxes checked scan the drive just in case. It does
not hurt to do this but does take some time. It's cured a couple of
mystery problems for me over the years, most of which I think were file
damage caused by power fluctuations.
