Hi all,
each time i launch mmc (tv, player, dvd etc) a box asks me wether to change to 32 bits per pixel or
not. I don't want or need the 32 stuff, so what can i do to avoid the box ?
thanks for any aim in advance.

Why?

32bit colour is just as quick as 16 or 8 in just about all video cards
these days. Oviously memory requirements are different, but again, most
cards have 32MB or more - enough for 4 times 1600x1200x32bit.

I was just wondering the reasons...

well you can either use 32bit colour or put up with the dialog box, your
choice

Getting to this late, but FWIW ...

I assume the message is referring to EAZYLOOK? If you don't actually
need EAZYLOOK, it's possible to basically disable it, after which you
don't get that message any more. At least, I don't here. I just went
into the main ATI Multimedia directory ("C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia
\main" on my system) and renamed the EAZYLOOK library file from
tenslib1.dll to tenslib1.dll.bu . After that I didn't get the message
any more. I'm not aware of any ill effects from doing that, but YMMV.
And it may not work under all versions of the ATI drivers/software,
although I did do it under both Win98 and XP and it worked in both
cases.

As for the question of why not just switch to 32 bpp ... <shrug>
Partly it was just because I'd been using 16 bpp, didn't feel the need
to increase it, was concerned that increasing it might cause a
performance hit, and didn't want to take the time to experiment and find
out. But a large part of it was just that I was annoyed that the
program was bugging me with this message for a function I had no
intention of using, with no way to turn the stupid thing off. So I
found my own way to make it shut the hell up. <bg>
