Hi all
Ordered FX51 Processor and SK8V motherboard from UK supplier and waited with
expectation. Parts arrived and were assembled only to find that the system
refused to POST. This board has an audio output which reports any problems,
and the message it gave was "Failed due to CPU overclocking"
As there are no physical settings on the board, so the BIOS was cleared, NO
Change
Memory was removed, Reported "Memory Test Failed"
Memory was replaced one bank at a time, Reported "Failed due to CPU
overclocking"
Removed CPU, Reported "No CPU Installed"
Tried 3 different AGP Graphic Cards, Reported "Failed due to CPU
overclocking"
Tried 2 different PCI Graphic Cards, Reported "Failed due to CPU
overclocking"
Tried 3 Different PSUs, 300W, 350W and finally a new 500W, Reported "Failed
due to CPU overclocking"
Telephoned the Supplier, Technical Support Dept said "Return the
Motherboard"
New Board arrived and was set up, Reported "Failed due to CPU overclocking"
Telephoned the Supplier, Technical Support Dept said "Return the Processor"
New Processor arrived and was set up, Reported "Failed due to CPU
overclocking"
Telephoned the Supplier, Technical Support Dept said "Boot with an Opteron
first and update the BIOS"
I'am sure everyone has a spare Opteron CPU just lying about?
Returned the Board and asked the returns manager to set up, test and if
necessary update the first motherboard which I had returned, and dispatch it
back to me in working order.
Arrived with me today, was set up and switched on, Yes you guessed it,
Reported "Failed due to CPU overclocking"
Anyone any Ideas before I use the old razor blade on the wrist solution.
