Hi all,
Has anyone tried any of the newer 1000MT hypertransport Opterons or
Athlon FX's in this board? I know the board doesnt officialy support anu
more than 800MT links but I'd like to get a newer cpu to replace my
Opteron140 & would like to get either a 252 Opteron or a dual core 275 as I
do plan to move to a newer board with PCI express in the future.

Cheers

Marko

For all I know, Asus has recently (June) released a new BIOS for the SK8V,
v.1003.008, which supersedes a previous 1003 beta. However they don't
provide much info about what it does. I have done many searches, and found
only a laconic statement which says the new BIOS "enables support for new
CPU", without being more specific. One blogger reported that it enabled
support for Opteron 152. Anyhow, I have flashed my SK8V with it and it works
fine, it even corrected a problem with the PowerNow instructions so my
Opteron 148 now runs much cooler and draws less power whitout impact on
performance.

If you find out more let me know!

regards

Guillaume
