sizing for cd writing

Hi

I have loads of music tracks that are to be transferred to cd.

There is an excel list of artist, and size in mb's of the track.

Is there an easy way that I can get them sorted to fit on the cd's without
me sitting with a calculator doing it manually. I estimate there to be about
10 cd's worth !

What I need is a sort formula that knows the cd capacity is 650 or 700 mb
and selects the tracks that optimise the use of each cd to its maximum.

All help appreciated

Bob

There is no such formula, you could use the solver if you have that
installed,
(tools>add-ins)
one way would be to use something like

instead of 8 use the size of the cd, remove the first batch with 1s
and repeat

Why? CDs are approx 10p (18c) each here in the UK, so personally I would want
to optimise the way I stored the music in terms of grouping artists, or
favourite compilations far more than any any consideration as to whether I used
10 or 11 CDs. Most CD Burning programs will give you a running total of the
size your selections rack up to anyway.

Many thanks, I'll try it out
