Hi all,

When I go to "My Webs" and click on Properties, I am given two different
sizes. No1 is "Size 3.23MB", and No2 is "Size on Disk 4.36MB". Could anyone
tell me which is the more accurate(No1 or No2).

I am limited to 5MB(Free) by my ISP, so if it's No2, I'm getting close and
will have to pare something out.

Thanks Drummy

The one that says 'size on disk' is the most accurate one
i believe, that is how much space is being taken up on
your hardrive, and when you transfer it to another
hardrive (such as the server your using) that is how much
it will be taking up. Your getting pretty close to 5mb :)

Regardless if the drive is FAT32,
FAT32 or NTFS when you right click a file
or folder and click properties, the size reported is the
size on "that disk."

The best gauge of the size of your web is to open the My webs
folder with Windows Explorer and right click on the "root" folder
for your web. It will be much more accurate.

Depends on how the OS formats your drive in 16 or 32 bit, etc.

Hi again all,

Thank you all for your timely responses. It's much appreciated.

For Steve - When I open My Webs, there is no "root" folder as such. Could it
be listed under another name? I'm using FP2000 under XP(H) SP1, and My Webs
folder is on a different partition than the OS. Would that make a
difference?

Once again thank you all.

A word of warning
When you publish w/ FP, it does not delete old files until after it uploads new files, so if you do a lot of renaming / rearranging
of your web, a 2.8MB web may "run out of space" when being published to a 5MB server
- Cure is to open the online web in FP and delete all files before you publish a large change to the web

| I would say that 2.8gb is a safe assumption.

Thanks Stefan. Don't think I'll have too much trouble that way. The site
consists of 9 pages, and I'm usually only updating 1 or 2 at a time. But,
I'll certainly keep in mind what you said. It does seem like a good
work-around.

Thanks again Drummy
