How can I get the system to show the entire picture? Right now it cuts off
some of the bottom of the photo. I've got one of those wide-screen laptops
and on horizontal photos it does show some black on the sides making me think
it isn't trying to fill the screen. Thank you.

This gets down to aspect ratio.

IOW...the width and height of your
image does not match the width
and height of your screen.

One of three things can happen..

1) The full image will display with black
bars on the sides or on the top and
bottom to fill the empty space.

2) The image may be cropped to fill
the screen but the sides or top/bottom
will be clipped.

3) The image can be stretched to fill the
screen but it will result in distortion.

So...the black bars are the best option...
you see the complete image even if it
doesn't fill the screen.

Hi John, thank you for your reply. The problem is that despite showing the
black bars along the side, the bottom of the picture is still missing - I'd
say about the bottom 1/10th - not so much but enough to bug!

Maybe you need to reposition the window.
Sometimes in our haste it's possible to drag
them out of place.

Open an image in Windows Picture and
Fax viewer...no other programs or windows
open....just the one window.

Right click your Windows Taskbar and choose...
"Tile Windows Horizontally" this should force
the current window to fill the screen.

You know John, I must have had some sort of mental breakdown as this morning
everything looks fine - the whole picture appears on the screen and I didn't
change anything. I know, old story. Thank you!

Now I'm wondering if there is any way to customize this View As Slide Show
display. I'd really rather have a little black around the whole picture
instead of having it push the top and bottom to the extreme of the screen and
leaving the right and left borders with black. Is there any way to do that?

Also is this possible or am I dreaming again - it seems the Microsoft Photo
Browser produces sharper results than View As Slide Show. Another brain
freeze?

Again, thank you for your kind reply.
