Byron's suggestion may work, but only if the compacted .mdb is less than
1.44MB. Zipping it (after it's been compacted ) may help more, it could
reduce the size by up to a factor of 5 in my experience (depending on design
and data scarcity), but even that is not guaranteed to do the job, it
depends on the actual db size.
Compaction is a good practice and should always be erformed periodically in
the interest of db integrity and performance, but the real answer here is
cut the umbilical cord with the stone age of computers! Floppies are small
by the current standards and very unreliable. Use CDs, or, even better, a
USB compact flash memory stick (a small investment you'll never regret), and
welcome to the 21st century!
