I have just upgraded to media player 9, and when I first
used it it asked if I wanted to keep the same settings.
I said yes, but now a CD takes about 60 meg vs 20 0r so
under 8. Looking at the options, ver 8 give a guideline
as to normal CD quality, high quality, etc., but this is
not available under 9. I am wondering if my default
compression which is now closer to highest quality is
unnecessarily too low and if I will suffer any serious
degradation in quality by going to a higher compression
factor.

Windows Media Player 8 called 64 Kbps "CD Quality" which was totally bogus.

I personally wouldn't rip anything below 192 Kbps (using variable bit rate)
with WMA9 Pro. Which is between 59 MB and 94 MB an album. Even then I can
still hear a difference with the original in some places.

Do some listening tests its the only way to tell, everyone's sound systems
and ears are difference. :-)
