I've got three old computers that I would like to donate but the covers are
off and I don't have the screws for them anymore. What are the specs for
the hexhead screws they use for computer cases?

6/32" thread pitch, 1/4" long (threaded portion) is the typical screw,
though some case screws used for this purpose are longer (like
thumbscrews) might be 5/16", or shorter (more often low-profile heads)
3/16",but if it's only joing two flat, one taped sheet metal panels,
even 1/8" length would work. Generally hardware stores don't carry
scews with this hex-head, but if you went to a local mom-n-pop
computer shop they probably have buckets full and would give you
some... Heh, I probably have a dozen in my pocket right now.

That is standard, but (particularly OEMs) might deviate from that.
HDD screws are also 6/32 thread, so if in doubt you might remove a HDD
screw and see if it'll properly thread into the case cover hole.

Lo, 6/32" thread pitch is a pretty LARGE thread pitch, .1875" between
threads... Maybe you mean a 6 x 32 machine screw size, .156" diameter with
a pitch of .03125" between threads.

Good Luck

Yes, you're right.
