Anyone know the limits powerpoint can handle to run a
show.

A user has 115 megs worth of Tiff images to put into a
presentation for tomorrow. Along with the images which
will be in PowerPoint, there will be highlighting as well
as animation calling out blow ups of part of the
images...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

First, convert the Tiff's to pngs using an image editting program like
Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro before you insert them. This ought to greatly
reduce the size of the powerpoint file. You can also, probably, cut them down
in size and still get acceptable quality.

Tiff's are extremely large files and for PPT you don't need this kind of
resolution.

Clark,

Powerpoint does not have a filesize limitation as such. But the less it has to do the less chance of problems.

If the presentation will be only shown on a screen or projected then it's worth having a quick read of this

Also it's best to use "Insert > picture from file" than any "copy and paste" with the tifs or pngs or whatever you go
for

Hi, Clark.

What BJ and TAJ said.

In addition, since you're in a hurry, you might consider using a
third-party program (or indeed PPT's own Compression options if you're
using PPT 2002 or 2003) to compress the images once they're in PPT.

For PPT 2002/2003 compression options, go to View/Toolbars/Picture. One
of the icons on the Picture toolbar is the Compression tool.

You might also consider using a batch importer for the images.

Amen to that, but I think I'd have at 'em with IrfanView, available (for free!) at
www.irfanview.com

It can batch convert and batch downsize all of the files at one whack.
