Size All Columns to Fit (How-to?)

Clayton

Hi,
Every time I open a folder I would like to set it to size all columns to fit
by right clicking on name at the top of the folder so I can see the full
length name etc, but when I go back to it, it is not saved. How can I do
this for all folder once and for all?

As far as I know, (believe me, I've tried) you can't. Another annoying
thing Microsoft never seems to have time to fix, been around forever.

Would be a nice tip if anybody figured out a way to do it that
"sticks" through a reboot.

Another bug I found is when deleting shortcuts from the start/programs menu,
they don't always delete the first time, you need to do it twice and 2
folders appear in the recycle bin

That could be because the folder appears both in the "All Users" profile
and the profile you are logged in with (with different shortcuts in each
of the two folders). The first time probably just deletes the folder
from your current profile, and the second time from "All Users".

Have you tried resizing the columns to how you want them, then click the
Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab > Apply to Folders. That worked
in previous versions of Windows, though I haven't tried in Vista (will
do soon though...)

Mark.

That works. However, what it does is save the size of the last folder
you used "Size to fit" on. It would be nice if it could be dynamic
per folder.
