Hi

I have a Pocket PC (Symbol PPT 8800) with some applications and
configurations that I am satisfied with. (CF SP2, OpenNetCF 1.2, WLAN
configurations ....)

These programs and configurations I want to "copy" to five other PPC so that
I have
six similar PPC's.
So, (being smart I thought), I used ActiveSync -> did a backup from the
original and
restored to the others.

When I did the restore I got an error that said some files are in use
although no program
is running or nothing is in memory.

After finishing the restore and trying to connect to the cradle I got the
following message:
Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Remote Networking
could not start due to a critical error (Error 608). Please reconnect your
device. If the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions
provided by the manufacturer.

Anyone that has experienced this to or knows a better way to solve the
problem with many similar PPC's.

Thanks

Sounds like you need to hard reset your scanners.

Why not write an install for the application, then you can distribute it to
as many devices as you like?
If you're using VS.Net, you can also "Deploy" the app to a device that is
docked.

I recently wrote a two tier system... A pc application checks on a connected
device to see if my scanner app is installed, if it isn't, it copies the
relevant ".CAB" files across to the connected device, then runs them remote
(RAPI) so that the app is installed. The end result was a scanner that when
docked, rebuilt itself if it had lost all the data through a cold reboot.

Dan.

For Symbol unit, create a .reg file of whatever reg settings you need, a
..cpy for any non-cab files you need, grab these, your files, your cabs and
place in the unit's Application directory. Cold boot. There you go.

Hi and thanks for your reply!

Do you know how do you configuere a WLAN this way?
ESSID and Encryption?

Thanks

Anders

Anders,

take a look at the S24Profiles.reg in the \Platform folder of your device.
This reg-file configures your network settings ( cold boot ).

Found that!

Thanks

Hi!

I actually found an application that might fulfil our needs - Sprite Clone.
Think I´ll give it a shot!
