For some reason I cannot access geocities.com on this
computer using XP Pro. I'm current on all updates.

I cannot get any subsidiary site on geocities.com. This
happens on both Netscape 7.0 and Internet Explorer 6.x.

I don't have this problem when I use another computer
(this one is running Win98SE) to access geocities.

I did a search through the registry but geocities didn't
bring up a response.

Is there some sort of scumware that locks a computer out
of sites?

I am the admistrator for my computer and I have not locked
anything out.

Thank you for your help and comments!

The problem could be caused by a bad entry in the Hosts file. To edit
the file, enter this command in the Start | Run box, making sure to
include the "." at the end of the command:

notepad C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\Hosts.

If you find an entry for geocities.com, delete it, save the file, and
try again.

I am having the same exact problem, but with Windows XP Home edition. I tried the fix suggested for XP Pro, but I couldn't get at the file.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this problem in XP Home?

Thanks,
