Hello,

I have used FP 2003 to put up these sites

www.diabetes-your-blood-sugar-usa.com/
www.diabetes-your-blood-sugar.com/
www.diabetes-your-blood-sugar-canada.com/
www.diabetes-your-blood-sugar-uk.com/
www.diabetes-your-blood-sugar-australia.com/
www.diabetes-your-blood-sugar-india.com/

I submitted both my htm and xml sitemaps to Google (Webmaster tools) as
follows:

I submitted the FP 2003 sitemap.htm file.

I submitted the sitemap.xml file after saving a copy of my website using
expression web with the 'add-on' for xml sitemaps etc. This generated the
sitemap.xml file nicely.

The xml sitemap (sitemapl .xml) is fine and the Crawler likes it .

I read the Google Webmaster Guidelines and thought both the submitted
sitemaps would be ok.

However regarding the sitemap.htm, I get the following error in in Sitemaps
in webmaster tools:

"Sitemap is HTML. Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a
supported sitemap format instead."

I have read the Google Webmaster Guidelines thoroughly, and they say to
submit both types of sitemaps. as I have done. Now I get the error message
above.

I am at a loss of what to do. I would appreciate some advice on what to do
next.

Michael Hutch.

Last time I read the Google webmaster tools (several months ago), they only
wanted the XML version for the crawler, and recommended a Python script to
generate it, though as Hot-Text suggests and you have found, there are
alternative generators.

An HTML site map for the website (linked to from at least the home page) is
generally a good thing, provided it makes sense to human users.

I suspect i dont need to submit a htm. sitemap to google if i have submitted
an xml sitemap.

However, i can always have a htm.sitemap for my users.

Thanks guys. i'm clear now. i dont need to submit a htm.sitemap to google
othertwise it will just say error bc they want a xml one !

Thanks Michael Hutch

Right. The xml sitemap is for google - the html sitemap is for users but
Google will find it on your site if wants to.

Sitemaps are a way to tell Google about pages on your site we might not
otherwise discover. In its simplest terms, a XML Sitemap—usually called
Sitemap, with a capital S—is a list of the pages on your website. Creating
and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the
pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google's
normal crawling process.

All links are discoverable by Google's with out a Sitemaps 200 Ok
it's for the 404 Not Found, is why we make Sitemaps for the
Crawl-?.googlebot.com
So that Google Crawl will stop look for Files Not Found that we Delete,,
