I installed winxp on a dell laptop - had to download new
driver from sitecom.com site for the 'fast ethernet pc
card' i have - it worked fine. downloaded SP1 a couple of
days ago with this card, but after restart i cant
connect ! IP addresses are all '0.0.0.0', cant find
server, cant find website.....

I have re-loaded the driver again, and gone back to an
old driver (as supplied with the card for WinXP), but no
success.

any ideas experts on why SP1 download has stopped the
card working ? thanks.

Maybe Windows XP contains the right driver and you don't need a Sitecom one.
I have a Sitecom PCI Fast 10/100 Ethernet Adapter LN-020 in a desktop
that is detected by Windows XP Home as an "ADMtek AN983 based ethernet
adapter".
Windows installs an983.sys ver. 2.17.1025.2001, the card works perfectly.
I think you should check Device Manager, if the card is reported to work
without problems then check the network configuration again.

thanks. whenever i have tried to load this driver winxp
has never had a generic driver and always needs you to
provide a driver.

im just stuck on the fact that it worked before winxp sp1
was installed, and now it dosen't !

In my case it wasn't a really generic driver but intended for an "ADMtek
AN983 based ethernet adapter".
Windows XP contains many drivers for various devices.
It happened in a few more cases on my computer a device is working with
a driver supplied by Windows XP instead of the one offered on
manufacturer floppy or CD or even without a special driver at all.
