Hi,
Normally when I do active directory designs they tend to have a hub and
spoke replication model. I never change the cost from 100 for each site
link. After seeing some designs that other people have done (basic hub and
spoke), they seem to assign different costs depending on what the bandwidth
of the physical links are. As far as I know, cost is only used if there is
more than one path for replication to take, and therefore is used to
determine the preferred path that replication takes. I have looked on the
internet for an answer but I cannot seem to find why different costs would
be assigned in a hub and spoke model, which each site link on containing the
hub and spoke site?
For example:
hub ->site A cost 100 (128k)
hub ->site B cost 100 (256k)
hub ->site C cost 100 (512k)
I cannot see why you would use different costs?
Am I right or wrong?
Thanks,
James
