A friend of mine built a system almost identical to mine but seems to be
having a few troubles. Nothing major, he just doesn't seem to get the
same performance out of his as I do mine.

So I figured we'd do a benchmark just to see where the problem might
lie, or at the very least, see if there was any noteable difference
between the systems, or if it's all in his head.

As soon as I start the process, ASUSProbe reports that my PSU power fan
is below threshold. I looked, and sure enough it's not turning. The
fan sucking air is, but the blower isn't.

Shut down, checked it out, nothing stuck in it, no accumulation, etc.
Boot up and it's all good. ASUSProbe doesn't report so I try Sisoft
again. Again, ASUSProbe starts dinging and my fan has stopped.

What's going on here? Any ideas? ASUSProbe has never given me any
warnings until now, and hasn't again. My pc has been on for about 20
minutes now and so far it's clear.

What kind of PSU is this? It's possible it's a thermally controlled fan
that stops completely if the temperature is low enough.

Asus Probe doesn't like it when other apps try to access the health
monitoring, maybe try SpeedFan or MotherBoard Monitor instead?

shows the specs for my power supply.

My computer has been on since before I posted my last message and
ASUSProbe hasn't warned me of anything else. I think it must have just
been sisoft messing with something or the combination of ASUSProbe and
sisoft.

No, the fan was actually off, It wasn't just a warning. It didn't come
back on until I completely shut down and started up again. Then
everything was fine.
