For some reason my computer has started playing up, I am running Windows XP.
On my desktop, all of the icons, the task bar eveything has vanished leaving
my background picture, the only way to use my computer is through the Windows
Task Manager.

I was able to get an error talking about the SISTRAY.EXE file. I am
guessing this is the problem and perhaps reinstalling it may fix the problem
but is it a WINDOWS file or a part of my MONITOR files?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Ben

Here is info on Sistray.exe. It's not a windows file, it's a non essential
component of the SIS video driver. You could disable it in the startup tab
of msconfig.

This may or may not be related to your problem. There is not enough info to
tell. Have you tried a system restore to before the problem started?

Also does the problem occur if you start in safe mode? If not do some clean
boot troubleshooting to see what is causing this issue.

Lastly you stated the OS is XP, so why are you posting to a
Vista.performance_maintenance newsgroup? There are XP specific newsgroups
such as microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

Good luck.
