I am trying to acomplish a MIS nighmare. I have been working at a
company for about 1 year now. we have finally regained controll over
the MIS MESS. Now it is time for making our Jobs easier.
Previously MIS department mde no effort to use as many similar systems
as possible when upgrading systems/buying new, and did not even
attempt to use the same manufacturer. Also our systems run many
different types of software.
i have been using SMS to create and push software packages. now I want
to consolidate my System loading problem.
I want to create a single partial image to install on any desktop
computer.
one for WIN2k one for XP if posible.
Here is my idea.
1. SlipStream SP4 and all other hot fix into win2k/XP.
2. create a answer file for unatend install.
3. include all drivers I need in the %oem$ directory.
4. Make Image install after DOS install at reboot. before GUI hardware
detect
5. run image from CD or Network.
this should start the load at the gui for the system and start the
detection.
Is this possible? and or is there a better way to do this?
Thanks for any help
