Single user configuration for WINXP home?

I have a machine which has, and will only ever have, a single user
account. It doesn't actually hurt anything, but there is a lot of
duplication, especially in disk space, for a default user
configuration and the current user. Can anybody recommend a good
source of procedures to optimize the configuration for this situation?

I am afraid that you are out of luck on that one. The default user is what you might call a seed user. Each new user that logs in gets this as a starting point. In the event that the user registry that you are currently using gets corrupted then you will still be able to access the machine using the default settings. So in short it is a function of the OS and cannot be deleted.

Andrew,

Thanks for the info. As I mentioned, not a big issue, but possibly
worth a question. Thanks, and a very Happy New Year!
