single - double sided DDR ram question

just wondering about this issue and hope that someone can enlighten me on what the differences are
and which type is widely used...my supplier tells me they dont supply single sided but all the chips
i get off em have chips down one side only....i assume this would be single sided??
even a url to a reasonable discussion would help

Yes DDR is SDRAM, but it is certainly not SDR.

SDRAM - Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory

DDR - Double Data Rate

SDR - Single Data Rate

SDR and DDR are as much alike as a cheetah and a tabby cat ... they are
similar in structure (both being cats), but one is quite a bit larger and
faster. They are hardly the same.

That is absolutely true. I was actually confused by the similarity of these
acronyms myself at one time.

Sorry for assuming you didn't know the difference.
