Hi,

Is it possible to set up XP to single-click-open a folder without
underlining that folder or the files inside the folder? (The underlining
also changes the name of the file you want to save.)

Thanks,

Marc

Folder Options | View ... Single Click and make sure you set only when I
point at them

Hi,

Step 1: In Internet Explorer, open "Tools" > "Internet Options" > "Advanced"
and check the radio button "Underline Links - Never".

Step 2: In Windows Explorer, open "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "General" and
check "Single-click to open an item" and "underline icon titles consistent
with my browser".

Hope this helps

Andy

Thanks...........Had to check "hover" on advanced options to prevent W.E.
from changing name of the file!

OOOOPS.........I was wrong. Hovering in advanced seeting (underline) still
changes file name when pointing to files within folder. Any way to
single-click w/o changing file names when pointing to file?

Thanks,

Marc

Depends ... whose 'option' did you chose?

Are you saying that when you move the mouse off the filename, the underline
does not disappear? The only way the name would change permanently, is if
you do a rename on the file.

No.....when in any single-click mode, the name of the file that is pointed
to appears in the 'save as' space. ....whereas when in double click mode,
the 'save as' space refers to the first word or words of the file you are
saving. This is less confusing for my purposes......but does not seem to be
an available option in 'double-click' mode. Sorry...should have been more
specific. Maybe I'm missing some configuration?

Didn't mention this is on Common Dialog boxes ... everyone assumed it was
from Windows Explorer windows.

What you need to change is the Hover Timer.

If you have TweakUI, open it, Click on Mouse and the Hover section. Change
and test the Hover ms. 1800 seems to be good, and gives you plenty of time
to move the mouse around without changing the filename to the one undeer the
mouse.

I've had that complaint too. Everytime an Open/Save/Save As dialog box
would open, wherever the mouse was on the screen, if it fell on the name of
a file, it would change the name to what was under the mouse.

This was a pain when doing downloads from the internet and the name would
get changed.

will do........in the next few days

Thanks,

Thanks! Now I know what everyone is talking about. I had noticed that
same problem but had no inkling it could be fixed.
