Since recent Windows update Outlook extremely slow

Since a Windows update (XP Professional) last week, Outlook's e-mail
programme (Office 2003) suddenly does not work properly. Sending and
receiving, and opening messages are very slow; writing messages has almost
become impossible, for the text only appears on the screen after a long delay
of anywhere between 10 and 60 seconds.
Reinstalling Office did not solve the problem. Does any one have any
solutions?

The problem you have encountered seems to have become very common and has
been aired on various forums. What seems to be significant is that it only
affects html mail and you need to be using Explorer V7. If you used a program
like Spybot S&D the problem is made much worse because it has added to the
number of restricted sites that are checked out and apparently the issue is
that the mail client is continually checking these restriced sites, which is
why it's so slow.
You can avoid the problem by working with Word to edit messages, using rtf
or in the security option in Outlook, changing the security zone to
"internet" and then changing it back. This however is only temporary and the
problem reappears when the program is closed down and opened again.
It seemed to start last week during the spate of updates. Does anyone have a
solution to the problem yet?
