Datum: maandag 15 maart 2004 16:46

I' ve had a successfull installation with mmc8.1and now I' ve XP with mmc8.9
and after installing and my first record, no more recording is possible, so
it record once
when I click the record button, it toggles, so record will not activate
but furthermore I' ve installed Studio 8.12 from pinnacle.
are these drivers in conflict with ATI ?
I' ve the displaydriver and wdm-drivers. etc from version 6.14.10.6227 and
HAD TO instal the remote wonder 2.3, but I don't no why. it MUST BE
installed for mmc, but I' ve nog remote control
the test runs well

I' ve reinstalled more than once (with the cat-uninstaller) and different
mmc versions with the same result
system is with winXp with sp1, AIW7500, directx9.0, dma100

please someone out there who can suggest a solution ?

MMC 8.9 sucks period end of sentence.

If you can go back to MMC 8.5, do so and wait for 9.0

Also hope and pray that 9.0 is a complete rewrite and has major updates.
That ATI does not call a minor update 9.0 because they ran out of minor
version numbers. <ATI programmer>"Humm ran out of numers I guess this minor
patch to fix a spelling/type will be 9.0" when real programmers know that a
major rewrite or major enhancements get a major version number and not a
minor. If 9.0 does not resolve a lot of the issues they should call it 8.91
and then 8.92 and then 8.93. They should keep using that versioning until
they get something solid and then call it 9.0. History has shown that every
update after 8.5 has been crap.

8.5 is solid, I had so many problems with any other version I always go
back. Things from the remote control not working, recording with bad
quality, Lock ups, problems with sound etc.

Also watch out for Guide + becuase that will screw up your scheduled
recordings. What you think will record at 7:00pm will record at 7:00am.

On a positive note NVIDIA can't do what an AIW can do with even crappy
software like MMC.

well, some one,
that did not work either :(
I've DE-installed mmc8.9 and remote wonder 2.3
then I installed 8.5 and NOT remote 1.4??? as turned out to be missing after
I did the test
did the init-setup, got picture, closed TV-app (so all had been saved)
the I started TV and tried to setup further, ie. capsettings.
TV hanged the system, so I could not even try to record :(

I have tried so long and so much, that.....
so now I think I have an ATI-burnout, but to see at this ng I'am not the
only one :
LOL, but not
Oh boy ATI, good hardware, but the environment sucks (n)
I don't what to do next

Wow, sorry to hear that Nick.

It sound like the same story I had when I did the install. I tried every
combination and finally it worked. I had done so many things I can't tell
you what made it work. Usually starting over by unistalling everything and
the reinstall stuff in a different order.

The only difference on the hardware side is that mine is a AIW 9800 PRO.
But the software problems you have are common with any hardware version of
AIW.

Another thing is to check what version of video drivers you have. I have
Catalyst Version 04.1. I think the version you mentions is the 2D driver
6.14.10.6227 mine is 6.14.10.6414 or your build is 6227 and the on I have
install is 6414. ATI just release Catalyst 4.3.

Another thing I have notice is that the WDM or Capture driver can only be
used by one program. I have Studio 9.0. If I have that running sometimes I
will get an error when starting ATI TV software about the Capture driver is
in use.

I do know it works and when it work it is great. I actually use a TV hooked
up to my PC and setup the shadowing/overlay. Now I have a window version of
TV running on my PC monitor and full screen on my TV it is pretty cool. The
DVR is cool just like Tivio with phoning home. Now only if ATI can make
some good software like they make hardware.

hi some one,

well, I have had it with ATI for now till version mmc 9.0 ;)
reading your story and recognising the details

at this point I've first installed mmc8.1 from the cd (I did buy it al from
canada to the netherlands, but it's awaste)
did install directx 9.0 NOT 9.0b, because of the conflicts in regions :(
also such a anoying thing => a should not be
same problems, nothing solved, only I can now watch tv and grab some nice
pics from the babes ;)
I also can watch via my composite which has been connected to my dvd/svhs
player in combination with my digital cable-tuner or svhs-camcorder
but no recording is possible via ATI-mmc
then I've installed the studio 8 package which came with my
plextor708a-dvdwriter
crash with studio while trying to record
upgraded it first with 8.10, still crash with studio
then upgraded it with 8.12, still crash with studio
then I' ve installed the separated file
wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-991-040224m-013831c.exe
still crash with studio
and now came the moment.....
then I' ve installed the separated file tv-capture-wdm-6-14-10-6227.exe
and studio 8.12 did the recording in AVI-format, pclep1m1-32 compression, by
480*576/25fps with 16bitstereo @ 48kHz form tv or composite
als recording in mpeg1 is possible with no frame loss
BUT... the nice recording from ATI in MPEG2, by 720*576/25fps with
16bitstereo @ 48kHz I am missing and is not possible within mcc81(greater I
will not try again @ this point) or studio 8.12

I've searched how to give studio the ability to accept the ATI-codec but I
do not know how to
Till now Í think the ATI-codec is the best piece of software from ATI

does some one ;) or anyone know how to fix this ?

and I do not think one recordprogram in one system is possible
I can record with windows media encoder 9.0 and virtual dub
anyway some one
GL and when either of us found improvements, I would like to hear from you
greetings
Nick
