Simultaneous use of monitor and TV with ati AIW 9700

I am planning to buy an AIW 9700 but do not know if it is possible to
play for example a dvd via the TV out, and simultaneous use the PC
monitor for other applications. I know this is possible for the
'standard' 9700 having two monitor connectors where the second monitor
is cloned on the TV. As the AIW does only have one monitor connector,
only the primary monitor can be cloned?

Yes, it's possible if you enable Theater Mode. Read this:

The movie will play full screen on your TV and in a window on your
desktop. You can cover that window with another one, for example, and
the movie will still play on your TV while you can use another
application on your monitor.

There may be other possibilities, but I think Theater Mode is the best
option.
