simultaneaous narration and background music- ppt2002

I am a novice trying to create a remembrance of a person. Would like
to play music over several slides then change music to play for a few
more slides, etc. and have different narrations for each slide. So
far, I can get both audios in but they are not simultaneous; one plays
and finishes then the other starts. Assume another problem would
entail volume control at leats for the background.
