Hi,

On my XP platform I have an invoicing program that seam to be doing a
"sanity" check during startup, to verify that it's running on an XP
platform.
I don't see any reason for this program not to run normally under Vista, so
my Q is - can I set any startup parameter to give it the impression that it
start up in an XP enviromment?

Have you tried the Program Compatibility mode? THere's a XP SP2 entry
there.

If your refering to start up of the program it self, there is a way to run in XP mode. Try right clicking on the file and then select properties. Next select the Compatibility tab. You can select to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

I hope that helps.

Please post if the Compatibility mode worked for you...

We need the feedback...

thanks

The issue I am having is with applications that are doing an OS check, even
though I have the application set to use XP SP2 mode, it won't start due to
the error, "this application requires Windows 2000, XP or server 2003 to run"
yadda yadda. I have had this happen with several apps, the most recent was my
attempted upgrade for Dragon Natuarally Speaking 9. Version 8 installed just
fine, (although it crashes the sidbar, can't have them both running at the
same time) but my just acquired Versdion 9 upgrade won't install.

Application compatibility modes used to report back to the requesting app
the supposed OS version number. Is this not the case now?

So far it didn't but I'l post the exact error, for you to have a look at!
I'm uncertain if it is windows or applications related!
