HELP!! I have a brand new Dell Dimension 8400 w/ xp media center as my OS.
When trying to install Sims 2, it continually freezes on the 2nd or 3rd CD at
the Control.Dat sections, TSData or something to do with Electronic Arts
Autorun problem etc. I am very frustrated with this and any help or
suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Let's try a couple of things to get that working for you again:

1. Startup your system in SAFE MODE by pressing F8 repeatedly
while your system is booting up after you've shut down your system

2. Log in with an account you've created as a "Computer Administrator"
account that you'll use to play the game, but don't use a Limited account.

It worked!! You are my hero! Or at least my daughters hero! Thanks SO much
for the help! You have NO idea how frustrated we've been! And a question, WHY
would I have to install in Safe Mode? Either way, at least it's working! YAY!
Thanks again! :o)

Awesome news!! :-)

I believe that a background process for an antivirus, firewall, or
other security software was impeding the installation from succeeding.

Anyways, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! ;-)

Cheers,
Jimmy.
