I am upgrading my motherboard but XP will not boot now....
How do you get access to your NTFS hard drive without XP
running? Catch 22....
I can attempt to boot from the CD but no joy.
Boot disk is only FAT and won't access the hard drive....

Any ideas? I know this must be a simple one....

Why can't you boot from the XP CD? Make sure your bios is set so the CD is
the first boot device.

You need to do a repair installation of XP with the MB replacement. The XP
CD is bootable and once it has booted you follow the instructions for the
repair install. If your bios doesn't allow the CD to boot, you can download
the XP boot disks for floppies from the internet.

have you set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard disk?

If it does not provide for that, you can download from
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;310994
to make a set of six floppies to boot and achieve the effect of booting
the CD
