Simple startup question

To boot directly into XP, you would have to be the only
user (with an account) on the computer. If you've got
several accounts for various members in your family your
stuck with the click your user name screen. If you are
the only user on the computer, you probably have the
password enabled. If that's the case go under the users
account option on the control panel, modify your account
to have no password. Good luck.

This is not true, Gerry.

Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 In the list of users, highlight the username you want logged on automatically and then uncheck Users must enter a username............. Click Apply. In the next dialog, enter the password for that account, if any. And voila. Autologon.

Thanks to both of you.

Koldbear - that was a new one for me - where did you learn it?

I'm not Koldbear, the first part of my signature is a tribute to him. He was a frequent contributor in the Windows ME groups, and he passed away a few days ago.

As for that trick, I picked it up here in the newsgroups.
