I've got Roxio CD creator installed and operational on my Dell/XP desktop.
The problem is, when I log into my user ID on the PC, it starts up the Roxio
CD install process and I have to "Cancel" through several screen to get it
to stop. This happens across all user ID's. I used to be more familiar
with configuring older versions of Windows - and this looks like something
that used to be in a "Startup" folder in Windows that would run each time.
I can't find the equivalent on XP.

So, what I'm looking for is, where are the places in XP where things like
this would get stored - i.e. where can I kill this unnecessary startup
process that I keep getting on each login?

Thx in advance,
-Dave

Dave,

There are 4 major startup lists in Windows. To manage their contents,
I use Startup Control Panel (free) from <http://www.mlin.net/>. SCP
installs as a Control Panel applet, and lets you move items from one
list to another, or disable one, interactively. It's safer and more
user friendly than MSConfig.

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Hi Dave,

Look here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up
folders, and in the system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

Good luck
