Simple question on drivers

I have a 9600 Pro 256mb card in Win XP. Device Manager reports driver as
6.14.10.6430. Most games tell you to make sure you use the latest drivers
available but ATI suggest not changing unless the present driver is giving
trouble. What should I do (mainly Flight Sims) ?

If the latest drivers aren't suitable, what's the best choice?

Regards and thanks in advance

System:
Win XP (SP2)
Athlon 64 3200
Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb
1Gb RAM
DirectX 9

If it ain't broke...don't fix it.

If your games run without issue, there is no need to upgrade drivers.

ATI always lists "Problems Fixed" and "Known Issues" with each new version
of their drivers. If you review those two sections and find that nothing
contained therein applies to you, there is no need to upgrade.

There are anal types out there that spend their lives making sure they have
the latest drivers for all their hardware, whether those drivers offer any
improvement or not.

There are also some who live by the holy framerate...if you are not one of
those, it is not necessary to install the latest drivers.

Simply put, if your current video drivers work with no issues, why change
them?

Syke,
You are safe to upgrade to the latest Catalyst drivers. I have the
ones released on 4/12/2006 from ATI's website and am using a 9800 Pro
128 Ram in Windows XP and it runs flawlessly.
